David was born in 1958 in Cape Town, and lives in Cape Town. He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Art (with distinctions) at the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town in 2011.
The University of Cape Town's Works of Art Collection has acquired two prints from his graduation work, Gated Communities.
In 2009, David completed the 3-year Photography Diploma course at Ruth Prowse School of Art in Woodstock, Cape Town, cum laude and earned the Valedictorian award. Images from his graduation work, Worker Interrupted, were chosen from a selection of several graduation exhibitions to be included in the Greatest Hits 2009 group exhibition at the AVA Gallery in January 2010. Later in 2010 he held his first solo exhibition of Worker Interrupted at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town.
